Alice Manthorpe Saunders



Born in East London in 1983, Alice began playing the cello at the age of 7. At age 11 she gained a music scholarship to Forest School for girls where she had an active role in the musical life of the school. Alice continued her studies at the Junior Guildhall school of Music and Drama before going on to complete her undergraduate studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

In 2008 Alice completed her Postgraduate studies on the Baroque cello at RWCMD, under Joseph Crouch. She was principal cello in the College’s Classical and Baroque Ensemble and was awarded the Elaine Hodgkinson prize for early music in 2007.

Alice is currently enjoying freelancing in London and is a member of several baroque ensembles, including group Spiritato! and looks forward to beginning her Masters at the Royal Academy of Music in September 2010.
