William Russell

A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he was the beneficiary of a Worshipful Company of Drapers Scholarship, William was a member of Southbank Sinfonia 2009 and a participant in the Ann and Peter Law OAE Experience for Young Players in 2010.

An experienced performer on both modern and historical instruments, William founded the baroque ensemble Spiritato! in 2008, and is the author of www.thekeyedtrumpet.co.uk. In addition to regular performances with baroque ensembles in Great Britain, including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, more recent work has included groups such as Oslo Baroque Orchestra (Norway) and Ensemble Zimmermann (Denmark).

William is an enthusiastic educator and workshop leader and teaches trumpet at St Bonaventure's School in West Ham and Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School in Notting Hill. In addition, he has taken part in education projects with Southbank Sinfonia, the Ann and Peter Law Experience Scheme and the OAE Education department.
